Oshawa – The Ontario Government is investing $7,500 in Oshawa to empower and help local Francophone artists and community literary arts organizations thrive.

Éditions Terre d’Accueil will receive $7,500 through the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. This funding will enable Éditions Terre d’Accueil to celebrate the diversity of voices of authors from Ontario’s Francophonie in order to promote their work around powerful and unifying themes.

“Our government understands the important role that Francophone literary arts play in fostering and celebrating creative expression,” said Lorne Coe, MPP Whitby, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community, and Social Services and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security. “This support will help Oshawa artists and arts organizations continue to make a positive impact on our economy and the province’s Francophone community.”

The Littérature – projets francophones program supports Ontario based Francophone literary artists while they complete new works for book-length publication and literary performers who wish to create or record their own repertoire. It also supports organizations that protect, strengthen and promote the work of the Francophone literary sector in Ontario.

The funding is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by supporting workers, businesses, communities and jobs in the face of ongoing economic uncertainty, while creating a solid foundation for a strong, resilient and competitive future.

“Ontario’s professional Francophone literary artists and organizations enrich our lives, build vibrant communities and boost economic activity,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Investing in homegrown artists and organizations that foster pride, influence creativity and strengthen local economies remains a key priority for the government. I am thrilled to support Éditions Terre d’Accueil in using the power of art to empower talented Francophone literary arts professionals in Oshawa and help them develop important skills.”

“As a Francophone publishing house based in Oshawa, we welcome with great joy and pride the announcement of this grant, which will enable us to amplify the diversity of literary voices among our Franco-Ontarian authors while celebrating their creativity. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Ontario Arts Council, through its Littérature – Projets francophones program, which supports and helps promote Francophone publishing in our province” said Suzanne Kemenang, the General Director of Éditions Terre d’Accueil.
