Ontario Investing in Durham Region’s Local Music Industry

Investment is creating opportunities for Ontario’s emerging artist

DURHAM REGION – The Ontario government is supporting the Durham Region through an investment of $10,000 to protect and strengthen the economic and cultural growth of Ontario’s music industry.
Mighty Entertainment Group Inc. will receive $10,000 through Ontario Creates, an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. The announcement was made by Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby.
“The Government recognizes the important role that the music industry plays in fostering dynamic and thriving communities across Ontario,” said Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security, and Children, Community and Social Services. “This support will help Mighty Entertainment Group Inc. continue to create more opportunities for talented emerging artists, like Omega Mighty, to showcase their talent, boosting the economic potential of Ontario’s vibrant artistic landscape.”
The Ontario Creates’ and the Ontario Music Investment Fund is designed to support business activities that are focused on: expanding artist rosters; investing in professional recording and production; facilitating job creation; undertaking export market development; enhancing business capacity; and increasing and strengthening diversity within Ontario’s music industry. In the Durham Region, this funding will enable Mighty Entertainment Group Inc. to provide critical support for music production, content creation, and touring expenses associated with their artist’s latest release.
“Ontario’s vibrant music industry works hard to showcase a diverse range of talented artists in every genre while creating good jobs and building strong communities across the province,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “I’m pleased the government is providing Mighty Entertainment Group Inc. with the funding it needs to continue its great work in the Durham Region, driving long-term growth and sustainability in the music industry.”
This funding is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by supporting workers, businesses, communities and jobs in the face of ongoing economic uncertainty, while creating a solid foundation for a strong, resilient and competitive future.
