OSHAWA – The Ontario government is supporting Oshawa through an investment of $14,600 to showcase and promote Ontario’s book publishers in international markets.

Les Éditions Terre d’Accueil will receive $14,600 through Ontario Creates, an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming:
•$7,100 through the Global Market Development Program – Book; and
•$7,500 through the Book Fund: Diversity Enhancement Stream.

The Ontario Creates Book Fund provides eligible Ontario companies with funding to participate in international activities that support company growth and produce measurable business and market development results. Primary activities supported include targeted sales trips and attendance at international market events.

“Our government recognizes the important role books play in fostering dynamic and thriving communities across the Region of Durham,” said Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security, and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services. “This funding will help Éditions Terre d’Accueil continue to expand its reach internationally and showcase the Region of Durham’s innovative book publishers on the global stage.”

“Ontario’s innovative book publishing sector does a wonderful job of supporting and championing exceptionally talented writers across all genres,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Now more than ever, when faced with threats to our economy and sovereignty, we must support developing homegrown talent and invest in programs that bring people together, tell our stories and foster pride in Canadian creativity and culture.”

“Éditions Terre d’Accueil is pleased to receive funding from Ontario Creates. This support will enable us to promote our publications in international markets, redesign our website, and develop new communication tools to enhance the visibility of our activities,” said Suzanne Kemenang, Directrice générale, Éditions Terre d’Accueil. “Supporting a francophone publishing house in a minority setting reflects Ontario Creates’ mission to strengthen and promote arts and culture across the province and beyond. We are deeply grateful for this recognition and excited to take this important step forward in our journey.”
