{"id":1330,"date":"2022-12-08T13:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T18:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lornecoempp.ca\/?p=1330"},"modified":"2023-03-29T13:32:43","modified_gmt":"2023-03-29T17:32:43","slug":"ontario-keeping-whitby-seniors-healthy-active-and-connected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lornecoempp.ca\/ontario-keeping-whitby-seniors-healthy-active-and-connected\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario Keeping Whitby Seniors Healthy, Active and Connected"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Seniors Community Grants Supports Seniors\u2019 Programs in Whitby<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEWS &#8211; Thursday, December 8, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Thursday, December 8, 2022<br>WHITBY \u2013 The Ontario Government is providing $44,140 in Seniors Community Grants<br>to two initiatives that will help local seniors stay safe, fit, active, healthy and socially<br>connected across communities.<br>Grant recipients include:<br>\u2022 Durham Foreveryoung Activity Centre located at 1052 McQuay Boulevard,<br>will receive $24,740 to organize a series of educational workshops\/classes on<br>safety, health and well-being topics, and create a mutual care\/support working<br>group for seniors from Mandarin speaking communities.<br>\u2022 Saffron Hub located at 901 Crocus Crescent, will receive $19,400 to partner 20<br>senior home cooks with youth volunteers to plan and deliver a food expo in<br>Belleville, sharing recipes that have been passed down from their families.<br>\u201cI want to congratulate the well deserving recipients, all of whom received funding from<br>our government&#8217;s Seniors Community Grants Funding Program,&#8221; said Whitby MPP<br>Lorne Coe and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier &#8220;We all recognise that seniors<br>across the Region of Durham have contributed so much over the course of their lives to<br>make our Province the place we know and love today.\u201d<br>\u201cSeniors Community Grants are keeping our seniors fit, active, healthy and socially<br>connected close to home, in their communities,\u201d said Raymond Cho, Minister for<br>Seniors and Accessibility. \u201cOur government is proud to invest in these projects with local<br>organizations to meet the needs of seniors, provide the supports seniors need and<br>deserve that also help to battle social isolation.\u201d<br>These projects are part of the 305 Seniors Community Grants investing into<br>communities across Ontario this year. Since 2018, Ontario has funded 1249<br>community-based projects and invested almost $22 million dollars in Seniors<br>Community Grants that have kept seniors fit, active, healthy and connected
